Note for Alaska Teacher Certificate holders:
Alaska's current guidelines for teacher re-certification state that up to three non-academic credits or continuing education units may be used to renew a 5-year certificate, and three graduate level credits are required for renewal. For more questions about teacher re-certification, visit Alaska's Teacher Certification page.
Upon completion of each course, you will need to send a completed copy of the Non-Academic Credit Pre-Approval Form (which will be provided to you by AEC) to the Teacher Certification Office along with: a written report that summarizes the activity and reacts to a major idea presented at the institute or workshop. This report must clearly state the strengths, weaknesses, and educational value of the activity in relation to the participant's teaching assignment, and a $50 fee (paid to the State of Alaska) for each pre-approval credit. AEC has taken this additional fee into consideration when pricing the cost of these courses, and have purposely priced them lower than our other courses for this reason.
AEC is not responsible for the completion of your paperwork with the Teacher Certification Office. If a student fails to complete or turn in the required paperwork and fails to receive proper credit for their course, AEC will not be held liable.
