Professional Medical Coding
In Professional Medical Coding you will develop knowledge of fundamentals of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, Current Procedural Terminology, ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) and HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System) guidelines. You will learn to evaluate current medical coding guidelines and be able to prepare reports assuring that coding and documentation meet compliance and quality standards. The PMC program will prepare you for the national American Academy of Professional Coders exam. This training will prepare you for a job in the medical field as a professional medical coder.

Our Professional Medical Coding classes are small, which provide plenty of opportunity for questions and one-on-one assistance through the course material. Our Professional Medical Coding Facilitator coordinates all of the coursework, provides study materials, and administers tests. Some of the material is delivered through video via a distance education program, while other material is taught from our qualified staff right on campus. In addition to the medical coding coursework, we also include courses to increase your clerical and office skills that will boost your resume and confidence in the workplace. Some of these courses include: keyboarding, electronic calculating, and job readiness.
Although some of the coursework can be done online, this diploma program is primarily completed at our campus in Soldotna, AK.
